LLinE Lifelong Learning in Europe

STUDY VISIT 3. UPM-Kymmene to be published in LLinE

UPM is a global paper, wood products and converting products company. It is present on all continents with the main production in Europe, North America and Asia. UPM employs today some 35 000 persons. We want to grow profitably and at the same time in a socially and ecologically sustainable way. This sums up our understanding of what Corporate responsibility means. It is a crucial part of our day-to-day work and of our quality, regardless of economic cycles. It requires a long-term effort and the will to continuously improve the company's operations. This "path" poses quite a challenge to any organisation. A central component in responding to this challenge is securing the needed competencies related to Corporate social responsibility and ethics where needed in the organisation. It is good to remember, that these competencies might look different in various geographical areas and they also tend to change with time. So lifelong learning is a must for securing responsible business operations throughout the organisation.
