KEYNOTE SPEAKER Juha Suoranta

Juha Suoranta currently holds Professorship of Adult Education (tenure) at the University of Joensuu. Since 2000, he was Professor of Education (tenure) at University of Lapland, Visiting Scholar at University of California (UCLA), USA 2003 – 2004, Senior Scientist of Academy of Finland 2003, Acting Professor at Sibelius Academy 2002, where he is currently Docent of music education, Researcher in Children and the Information Society Research Program at the University of Tampere 2001. Acting Professor of Education, University of Lapland 1997 – 2001, Visiting Scholar, University of Illinois, USA, 1996 – 1997.

Juha Suoranta has been and is a Member of the Editorial Board of several scientific journals in the field both in Finland and abroad.
He is Co-Director of ICCP (International Center for Critical Pedagogy) with Peter McLaren (University of California at Los Angeles) and Dave Hill (University College of Northampton), since 2003.

Prof. Suoranta was also Short-Term Expert on ‘International Trends in Curriculum Theory’, Ministry of Education (Tanzanian Institute of Education), Dar es Salaam, and in Morogoro Teachers' College, Morogoro, Tanzania (September 2000), and Consultant for the United Nations World Youth Report 2003 (theme: Information and Communication Technologies, August 2002).
