Fifth International LLinE Conference SOCIAL CAPITAL and CITIZENSHIP adult learning and the future of humanity 5 – 7 June 2002 Participation, co-operation and trust increase people’s well-being both in public and in private life. What is participative, critical citizenship? How do we read the signs of social alienation in many parts of society? How do we work to create social capital? What kind of adult education approach does our today call for? The conference is for researchers, educationists, NGOs and decision makers, in working life and in families. · Keynote speakers Ulla Anttila, MSSc, MP, Finland; Luiza Cortesão, Professor, Portugal; Sylvain Côté, Consultant, CERI, OECD; Prof. Paul Ilsley, Professor, USA; Seppo Niemelä, Secretary General, Finland; Monika Oels, the EU Commission, among others. · Clarification of concepts like the fuzziness of citizenship today, social capital. · Workshops invite participants to discuss their own experiences and projects for feedback and networking. · The most interesting presentations and experiences will be published in the international journal Lifelong Learning in Europe LLinE.
